Betting for a living - Nick Mordin
In our opinion, this was the book that changed british horse race betting for good.
Nick Mordin shows how he made over £1000 a month using various methods that he learned from reading american racing books.
In this book, he explains how to compile your own speed ratings, pace analysis, horse profiles & lots more.
If you only buy one horse racing book, we reccomend this one.
Horse profiles
Although Nick Mordin covers horse profiles in his book above, there are two other horse racing books that cover horse profiles in detail.
These are
Horse profiles for the flat 2007
by david Peat and
Trend horses for the Flat 2007
by Andrew Mount.
Both these books give detailed breakdowns on a horses optimum conditions & have 100's of horse profiles that you can follow during the 2007 flat season.
Speed Ratings
Speed ratings are a great way to sort the wheat from the chaff when it comes to horse racing.
For example, if there are two horses that won last time out, speed ratings will tell you which ran the fastest whereas conventional form study will not.
The two best british books on the subject are Nick Mordin's
Mordin on time
and Peter Stavers's
Seconds into winners
.
These books are good if you want to produce your own speed figures. They also provide good advice on interpreting the ratings once you have them.
Andrew Beyer is America's authority on speed ratings, his book "Beyer on speed" is also worth a read.
